Seafarers are individuals who work in the maritime industry, either on ships or in port facilities. They play a crucial role in the global economy, transporting goods and people across the world’s oceans. The job can be challenging, with long periods away from family and friends, but it can also be rewarding, with the opportunity to see new places and meet people from different cultures. Seafarers come from all corners of the world and work in a variety of positions, including as navigators, engineers, deckhands, and cooks. Despite the importance of their work, seafarers often face difficult working conditions and limited access to shore leave and other basic rights.
